Training students’reading and writing skills

Our goal is developing students’skills to input and output. Input is understanding what is said and what is written, and then finding out what is important from the flood of information around them. Output is related to writing and speaking accurately about their thoughts and social issues. In the M curriculum, students focus on giving presentations. This trains their ability to input and output. In the Y curriculum, we put more stress on training students for university. Students should be able to read difficult passages and describe their opinions and understanding. University entrance examinations see whether or not students can read what the author and the preparer really means (input) and write their answers (output)―communication skills. The skills that society demands are changing; however, we believe that people who can input and output properly will be in demand regardless of time or place. We aim to develop those skills through our course.

Math
数学

Taking students from basic to advanced math

M3 and M4 students complete the contents of junior high school in two years.

We give students tests in the morning short homeroom. Also students take re-tests and supplementary lessons after school. The curriculum allows students to review what they learned over and over. This establishes fundamental learning skills and the understanding of basic contents of junior high school. Through this they complete the junior high curriculum in only 2 years and develop good learning habits and practices.

Y1 and Y2 students complete the contents of Math Ⅰ, A, Ⅱ and B.

With seven 50-minute classes a week Y1 and Y2 students are able to complete the contents learned by second-year students of public high schools. Some of the classes are divided based on the degree of academic achievement to help students exert their full potential.

Y3 and Y4 classes put stress on university entrance exams.

Students in the humanities-oriented course start to learn for university entrance exams at the beginning of the Y3. Students in the science-oriented course begin to prepare for it after completing Math Ⅲ. We take a lot of time to equip students for university entrance exams. students gradually learn to answer both standard-level and advanced-level questions. There are optional classes for the advanced-level students after school and during the holidays.

Science
理科

Inspiring motivation through encouraging experimentation

Our curriculum enables students to understand the essence of a phenomenon through observation and experimentation and then to explain their conclusions. Our full set of equipment and lectures in co-operation with nearby universities and research institutes are designed to stimulate our students’ motivation and interest. In the M curriculum, our lessons go beyond the standard JHS curriculum in deepening our students’ scientific understanding. In the Y curriculum, we move on to advanced experiments and observation and nurture students’ ability to think and analyze data from a scientific viewpoint as well as classes to prepare them for university.

English
英語

Getting basic English skills and having experience in the world

Students will get basic English skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing under our 6-year curriculum. Are you interested in foreign countries and cultures ? “I want to talk with people all over the world.” “I want to tell a lot of people about myself in English.” That attitude is the starting point of learning English. We will help you to make your dream a reality. In the M curriculum, we help students work on internalizing the fundamentals of English to allow them enjoy using English in everyday situations. In Y we help them have a deeper knowledge of English to allow them to read and write at high level. Also, through special programs like our two weeks of intensive language training in Australia, you will be able to use these skills in an English-speaking environment. In the last two years of our Y curriculum, you put all your experience together in order to prepare for university.

Social Studies
社会

Deepening understanding by both studying and researching

In the M curriculum, students learn both history and geography. Besides studying using textbooks, students carry out research and make presentations about special programs such as field work activities in Asuka village and practical training in Okinawa. In the Y curriculum, they add civics(politics) and morals into studies, and subjects like history and geography move to advanced-level contents. Y3 students in the humanities-oriented course choose two of those subjects and those in the science-oriented course choose one subject to prepare for entrance examinations. We would like students in the science-oriented course to appreciate social studies. So we have more classes in the area than other schools. Then, Y4 students can smoothly move to preparing for entrance examinations.
